A NEW CONCEPT IN CAR CRIME PREVENTION
There has
been an 18 per cent increase since 1989 of motorists failing to pay their
road tax. The total number of motorists not paying their road tax is 1.5
Million. Lynne Hopkins, of the DVLA, said in The Sun, February 5, 2001: "Unpaid
road tax costs around £183 Million a year".
Because of these road tax
dodgers, the crime of the theft of motor tax licences has risen by 15 per
cent in the last two years. It has now become THE FASTEST GROWING CAR
CRIME. As more and more radios, stereos, etc are contained within the
fabric of the vehicles, one of the only opportunist thefts available to a
car crime thief is the theft of the motor vehicle licence.
As a direct result of these
unbelievable figures, Secur-i-Disc (U.K) developed a unique
Tamper-Proof Tax Disc Holder, the only one of its kind tested and accepted
by both the DVLA and Police.
You take out your car stereo,
put on the steering lock and switch on the car alarm. You've hidden your
tape collection in the boot. You think you have finally done everything you
can to keep thieves at bay - But there is one expensive item that no one can
hide - the tax disc.
Worth in excess of £180,
it is the only valuable you cannot lock away in the boot and is constantly
on view to all potential thieves. And until now there was nothing anyone
could do to guard against tax discs being snatched.
